Things are hotting up in Canberra this summer as Simon Baker flew into the nation's capital to launch the National Gallery of Australia's summer blockbuster exhibition 'Tom Roberts'.
While we're struggling to see the link between Simon Baker and what his NGA ambassador role involves, we're still happy to see his handsome face & it's sure got people talking about the exhibition!
Tom Roberts is arguably one of Australia's best-known artists. The Tom Roberts exhibition encapsulates the quintessential Australian character from landscapes of the bush to urban life. The display includes some of Roberts' most recognisable paintings including Shearing the Rams, A Break Away and Big Picture.
More than 130 paintings, prints and sculptures dating back to 1883 have been brought together from public and private collections for the exhibition.
The exhibition takes place during an exciting time of change at the NGA, including a large-scale rehang of almost every work of art, with Australian art taking pride of place in a new location.
Tom Roberts is an exhibition for all Australians; it's not to be missed. The summer blockbuster exhibition is at the NGA from 4 December 2015-28 March 2016 in Canberra only. NGA is open 10am-5pm (except Christmas Day).
Enjoy high tea at the Wedgwood Tea Room pre or post the exhibition for an exquisite high tea full of Australian flavours inspired by Tom Roberts. High Tea is served 10.00am to 4.30pm daily. High tea with Simon Baker...now that's a delightful idea...
Visit Canberra and stay at Hotel Hotel this summer and receive two tickets to the 'Tom Roberts' exhibition. Hotel Hotel's rooms are inspired by the Australian shack, how totally theme appropriate is that? NGA Tom Roberts package from $285 per night.
