This week we attended Luxperience: an industry event for bespoke luxury and high-end experiential travel. If you follow our Instagram feed, you’d think it was all Champagne, canapés and fun in the harbour city, however there was a serious side to the conference. We commenced with a Thought Leaders Forum held at the iconic Luna Park. Luxperience CEO, Lindy Andrews discussed the ‘New Luxury’ in her opening address, which is more personal and immersive travel rather than generic 5 star hotels. We couldn’t agree more and alluxia strives to bring unique experience so you can live like a local and explore the destination, rather than feeling like a tourist. We did note a lack of discussion around technology in tourism, certainly one of our passions…
Here’s our highlights, tips and news in luxury travel and what’s hot in Australia and New Zealand right now!

Following a $30 million refurbishment, this iconic hotel is set to re-open on 1 December 2014. With just 98 rooms it’s all luxury and elegance at the hottest new harbourside address. Boasting the largest guest rooms in Sydney at over 49 sqm and featuring opening windows and balconies the new hotel will be in high demand. We’re loving the new décor, light filled rooms and divine dining options.
Luxury Adventure cruising or Expedition cruising continues to grow in popularity and we were super impressed with North Star Cruises True North. This isn’t your ordinary cruise holiday, you’ll explore the Kimberley onboard your luxury vessel complete with helicopter in case you want to continue exploring from the air! With a crew of 20 and just 36 guests you’ll receive the full VIP treatment.
This New Zealand newcomer has recently launched a luxury coastal farm escape with four distinct villas. Set on a working cattle farm only 1 hours drive from Christchurch this is an attainable weekend getaway from Australia’s East Coast. The Shepherds Cottage looks idyllic for a writer’s retreat and we loved the sleek lines of the new Seascape villa. These secluded villas each have their own character and can be booked separately or together for larger celebrations. Contact info@alluxia.com for more information.
Thanks to the Luxperience team for arranging a spectacular event. We’d also like to thank our accommodation hosts Pier One Sydney and transfers from Encore Corporate Cars.
