Foodie events are back baby and Newcastle is dishing up thirty days of deliciousness with the inaugural Newcastle Food Month this April.
Celebrating a dining scene that has blossomed into its own in recent years, Newcastle is home to an ever-growing number of cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs each with its own Newcastle identity and provenance on and off the plate.
“We’re so fortunate to have the Hunter Valley - renowned for its wines, and Port Stephens for its pristine seafood on our doorstep and a plethora of amazing produce and talent accessible to us.” says Event Organiser Louise Maher.
Newcastle Food Month boasts more than 100 food focussed events this April from Plate Dates involving more than 60 local venues each offering their speciality on a plate with a matching beverage for just $25 to the piece de resistance being a Parisian style pop up dinner held in 80 cities around the world coming to Newcastle for the first time – Le Diner En Blanc.

Flotilla Natural Wines + Autumn Menu | 7 & 8 April 2021
At Newcastle’s most exciting restaurant, Chef Shayne Mansfield and beverage director Eduardo Molina will take you through a five-course degustation of their autumn menu matched with alternative natural wine pairings.
Signal Box Pop-Up Sparkling & Oyster Bar | 9, 16 & 23 April 2021
Friday nights never looked so good with a oysters and sparkling at foreshore favourite the Signal Box. Each week the crew will feature a different oyster variety with the growers on hand to freshly shuck oysters and share their knowledge. Enjoy half dozen oysters and a glass of sparkling for $25 per person.

The Plate Date
An incredible 60 cafes, restaurants and pubs are all getting creative and offering a specially designed plate, with a beverage, for just $25pp throughout the month of April including Coal River & Co’s beetroot pasta with roast butternut pumpkin, caramelised onion and goats cheese paired with a glass of fresh, crisp Italian Soave or perhaps Customs House Hotel’s seafood risoni paella paired with a Tinklers Verdelho is more your style.

The Signature Event – Le Diner en Blanc
This spectacular event is held in over 80 cities throughout the world where guests gather dressed in white and enjoy a temporary dining setup in a public space. The location is kept a carefully guarded secret until the day of the dinner and this is the first time Newcastle will take part in the famous Le Diner en Blanc on 10 April. Learn more here.
