Last week we brought you the news that Hong Kong boutique hotel group Ovolo had acquired Emporium Hotel Brisbane and now Ovolo has secured the rights to manage Hotel Hotel Canberra!
The private sale between Molonglo Group and Ovolo includes the hotel and hatted restaurant Monster Kitchen and Bar. It is the first time Ovolo has not acquired the underlying real estate for one of its Australian hotels.
This move represents the Ovolo Group's continued aspiration to explore the hotel landscape and their interest in taking on additional management arrangements with other selected boutique hotels in the near future.
"Ovolo has been well received in Australia and we are proud to bring our signature concept to the Australian capital. We believe this venture is the perfect alignment and are delighted to be associated with this property." said Girish Jhunjhnuwala, CEO of Ovolo Group.
"This marks an exciting time for Ovolo and we look forward to entering the Canberra market with this incredible asset." said Dave Baswal, COO of Ovolo Group.
Hotel Hotel burst onto the scene in 2013, created by Molonglo Group, an artisan focused property developer in collaboration with Australian and international designers and artists. The result was a carefully curated collection of artworks, objects and furnishings throughout the hotel, creating a hotel like no other.
The property development and creative production house, Molonglo Group, will be working on a number of architecture, design, cultural and experimental projects in 2018; across Australia and internationally.
Ovolo Hotels will now operate in Hong Kong, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra, signalling rapid expansion for the company with three new hotels joining its portfolio in the last six months - Inchcolm, Emporium and Hotel Hotel.
Ovolo Hotel Group will commence managing Hotel Hotel from 1 March 2018.
