Rooms at Avani Residences
We’re allocated an impressive two-bedroom premier ocean front suite on a high floor for our two-night stay, which affords non-stop views of the Broadbeach skyline and ocean beyond. The interiors are soothing greys and pale timbers with splashes of vibrant colour from the artwork and soft furnishings making a cheerful change to the trend of minimalist coastal chic.
At around 75sqm, the apartment is spacious and deserving of its Residences title. It’s kitted out with all the essentials and more for a short or long stay including a fully equipped kitchen complete with Nespresso coffee machine, pods and biscuits to make a cuppa and settle right in.
The open plan design of kitchen, lounge and dining merging with the balcony makes for ideal holiday entertaining. There’s a separate ensuited bedroom with ocean views to wake up to as well as second bedroom and bathroom. Unlike many apartment style accommodation on the coast, Avani offers daily housekeeping, so it’s a joy to return at the end of the day to an expertly made bed and fresh towels.
Stepping Out
Stepping out is easy at Avani Broadbeach, as you have everything you need at your doorstep. Firstly, there are two dining options on the ground floor – Miss Moneypenny’s Restaurant & Cocktail Bar and Fat Freddy’s Beach Bar and Diner. Miss Moneypenny’s brings an air of sophistication to the coast, with stylish and plush interiors and charming bar staff who will share their skills via an interactive cocktail making class. Linger longer and enjoy the delicious exploits of head chef Adam Dundas as you savour his ‘Seven Dish Signature Selection’ a shared menu grazing Dundas’ most popular dishes. The Seared Wagyu Carpaccio with smoked enoki mushroom, ponzu jelly, Spanish onion, crispy garlic and shiso was a standout although each dish was spectacular.
Wake up and smell the coffee at beloved Gold Coast eatery Elk Café. Now firmly ensconced in its new location beachside at The Oasis, it’s a short walk from Avani and the perfect breakfast spot on your Broadbeach vacay.
For dinner, wander nearby Oracle Boulevard and settle on a dining destination of your choice such as the divine Orzo, a contemporary coastal Italian restaurant. The upscale bistro has a concise menu of snacks, starters, pasta, mains and sides or if you can’t decide, opt for the 5-course chef’s tasting menu. The Risotto of scallops, preserved lemon, fresh herbs and lemon verbano was the perfect choice for a balmy night with a crisp white wine from exceptional WA winery Cullen.
