We recently attended the Australian Traveller Magazine 2017 People's Choice Awards, cheering on some of our favourite destinations and mixing with industry colleagues!
The event was held at the all-new Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour with awards presented over a decadent long lunch with matched wines by Tyrrell's.
Uluru and the Northern Territory really scooped the pool with 5 wins including 'Ultimate Dream Experience' showing Australia's love of this iconic natural wonder hasn't waned.
Above: Australian Traveller Founder Quentin Long introduces the awardsThe Hunter Valley was a popular choice winning 'Favourite Regional Escape' and 'Best Food & Wine Region'. It's hard to argue with readers, we've visited regularly this year and still discovering plenty hidden gems in The Hunter!
It's no surprise, Great Ocean Road won "Ultimate Road Trip" with stunning coastal scenery, winding roads and delightful villages to stop at along the way, it's definitely a "must do" in Australia.
Sydneysiders can sometimes be guilty for taking the beauty of the Blue Mountains for granted, but AT readers voted it the "Cosiest Winter Destination" and "Most Romantic Escape".
Finally, which city would take out the coveted "Best City to Take a Break In"? Well, Melbourne of course! Victoria's capital has held the mantle for many years with its culture, shopping and laneway cafes high on the list of reasons to visit.
A complete list of the winners can be found here and in the current edition of Australian Traveller Magazine.
Everyone was a winner on the day, as we all took home a rather epic goodie bag including gorgeous products from Appelles, Byron Bay Cookie Company, Corban & Blair, Tyrrell's Wine and more!
Thank you sponsors and thank you Australian Traveller Magazine xx
