Built in 1849 by the grandfather of Australia’s only Tasmanian born Prime Ministers, Joseph Lyons the Inn welcomed many a weary sailor in its day. After trading as a pub for 150 years, it gradually fell into disrepair and was eventually resurrected as a guesthouse with its name re-established as homage to its origins.

Featuring seven rooms and suites with a wooden staircase separating the ground floor and attic suites, each room has its own story to tell. From the Greenhills suite, which honours the extreme hardship endured by Tasmania’s early settlers who forged a cultivated landscape from the unrelenting wilderness through to the Roaring Tom’s apartment which pays homage to the seafaring adventures of Thomas Holyman, each room is individually styled in a moody palette reminiscent of an overcast day of the sea.
