The Lucky underwent a major renovation in 2014 to restore the façade and bring the famous hotel back to life. The family owned and operated hotel now boasts 30 boutique rooms, bars and a Mexi-Cali inspired restaurant and is winning the hearts of locals and visitors to Newcastle.

Checking in at The Lucky’s dedicated front desk adorned with antique suitcases creates a great sense of arrival. Reception hours are:

Monday: 9.00am – 5.00pm

Tuesday: 9.00am – 5.00pm

Wednesday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Thursday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Saturday: 9:00am – 5:00pm

Sunday: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Each of The Lucky’s boutique hotel rooms is unique, featuring modern furnishings, ensuite bathrooms, luxury bedding and premium L’Occitane amenities. The Lucky blends the old with the new in perfect harmony with charming finds such as antique bottles adorning the wall in the hallway, found during the renovation.

Downstairs the main bar is welcoming with exposed brick and a drum kit chandelier, a nod to its rock heritage. Meander through the bar and you’ll find quiet corners to sit and relax with a craft beer or regional wine. The courtyard with spectacular vertical garden is where you’ll find the restaurant with a Mexi-cali inspired share-style menu, using only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients.

The dishes are layered with Mexican spices and house-made marinades and sauces, while our meats are cooked low n’ slow in our imported American Smoker that gives our dishes depth and added flavour. There's also a great range of ‘hotel faves’ to ensure everyone’s tastes are catered for.

Please note that the hotel has live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday evening. Increased noise may be heard at these times.
