The Islington Hotel is a small luxe hotel with the feel of an intimate private manor. Lavishly and tastefully decorated with fine art and antiques with contemporary extension and modern conveniences. Sweeping views of Mount Wellington & personalised service seal the deal.
Islington is a boutique hotel set in beautiful gardens in the dress circle of the City. With stunning views of Mount Wellington, this luxurious exclusive enclave has 11 rooms each of a distinctive character. Built in 1847, Islington is a fine example of Regency architecture recently restored to showcase its original glory and updated to include the little luxuries, a mountain view pavilion and fine wine cellar. The rooms are large with king or twin bed options, crystal marble bathrooms, furnished with imported baths, separate shower stalls and toilets, and brought together by a heated granite floor. Downstairs the entrance opens into an expansive hallway from which extends a library, a salon and a morning room where the sun shines by day and the log fires crackle by night. The centre piece of the hotel is the conservatory that adjoins the kitchen and opens out to the terrace, beyond which is the reflecting infinity edged pool, pavilion and towering in the background is the grandeur of Mt Wellington. Late in the afternoon enjoy a glass of Tasmanian wine while savouring the setting of the sun. And from here wander through the extensive gardens, populated by a landmark willow tree over 100 years old.
Reception office hours are between 8am and 10pm.
